One of the most popular love songs from the region of the Dingle Peninsula in West Kerry, it is thought that it was composed by Micí na gCloch Ó Súilleabháin around 1860. A heartbroken young man laments his lovers' betrayal and deliriously imagines walking with her again out on the mountains overlooking the sea, or of travelling to a deserted island where only the seabirds go to roost. His only solace is to be found in the 'juice of the barley', which lifts the mist on his heart.

Ceann de mhóramhráin ghrá Chorca Dhuibhne. Tuigtear gur Micí na gCloch Ó Súilleabháin ó Pharóiste an Fheirtéaraigh a chum an t-amhrán timpeall ar 1860. Ó bhéal an fhir a thagann an t-amhrán - é croíbhriste ó thréigh a ghrá é d'fhear eile, cé gur gheall sí go bpósfadh sí é.
