Cormac MacAirt was a mythical high-king of Ireland. One night, as his mother slept, a wolf stole the infant Cormac and suckled and sheltered him in a secret cave to hide him from his enemies. Later on, his mother found him and stole him back again. While they were fleeing across a mountain under the cover of darkness, the wolves of Ireland gathered to take him back but were thwarted in their efforts by a herd of wild horses.
